The present invention relates to an apparatus for managing power of a telematics terminal and a telematics system using the same. The apparatus sets an activation time of a communications unit according to schedule information received from a telematics server and then activates the communications unit only when needed to provide the telematics service on desired time. Also, the system prevents unnecessary consumption of power. To this end, the apparatus includes: the communications unit which receives a telematics use schedule from the telematics server; a schedule process unit which records activation dates and times of the communication units in a storage unit after analyzing the telematics use schedule received by the communications unit; the storage unit which stores the activation dates and the activation times of the communications unit; and power management unit which supplies power to the communications unit based on the activation dates and activation times stored in the storage unit. |
