In a process for the production of resinous condensation products, a mixture comprising boleko oil or a fatty acid obtainable by hydrolysis therefrom or an ester of said acid with a mono- or polyhydric saturated aliphatic alcohol and a drying or non-drying oil (other than boleko oil) or a fatty acid obtainable by hydrolysis therefrom or an ester of such fatty acid with a mono- or polyhydric saturated aliphatic alcohol is reacted by heating with an aliphatic polyamine containing at least two primary amino groups. Many drying and semi-drying oils are specified. Specified polyamines are ethylene and hexamethylene diamine, diethylene triamine, triethylene tetramine, tetraethylene tetramine, tetraethylene pentamine, dipropylene triamine and bis-(3-amino-n-propyl) ether. The examples describe the preparation of resins soluble in ethylene glycol monoethyl ether from boleko oil and:-(1) and (2) linseed oil and diethylene glycol; (3) linseed oil fatty acid and diethylene triamine; (4) linseed oil and triethylene tetramine; (5) wood oil and diethylene triamine and (6) and (7) ricindeic acid and diethylene triamine. The products may be used for curing epoxy resins. |
