A tampon or cleansing device for body cavities comprises a plurality of absorbent layers, isolating partitions 10 and reinforcing plates 11 being interposed between some of the absorbent layers. A tampon or plug comprises circular layers 1-8 of porous absorbent material e.g. synthetic plastic, foamed or spongy material, separated by layers 9 of adhesive, non- porous foils 10 and reinforcing plates 11. The layers are secured together by threads 12, cords, wires or bands, one 13 of which is extended for removal purposes. |
