A vehicle front structure comprises a bumper beam 1 formed as a hollow body having open ends, and elongation members 13 inserted in said open ends. The bumper beam and/or elongation members may comprise extruded aluminium sections, with the elongation members having a horizontal symmetry plane. The bumper beam may comprise at least two compartments 7, 8 separated by a partition wall 5, where the elongation members have a slit 15 extending longitudinally so as to accommodate the partition wall in an overlapping region of said bumper beam and elongation members. The elongation members may have at least three compartments (23-25, figure 3), with the width of the central compartment (25) corresponding to the thickness of the partition wall. A support 17 may connect an end portion of one of the elongation members with a longitudinal chassis beam 9. It is intended that the elongation members will less easily break away from the bumper beam when impacted in a collision. |
