1. A process for alkylating a benzene with an olefin comprising
reacting a substantially linear olefin having at least 10 carbon atoms with a benzene under alkylation reaction conditions in the presence of a catalyst to produce alkylated benzene, said catalyst comprising a first catalyst containing faujasite comprises at least about 16.5 wt. percent rare earth selected from the group consisting of lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, other rare earths typically associated with the named rare earths, and blends thereof, and a second catalyst component zeolite selected from the group consisting of BPH/UZM-4; wherein the alkylation reaction is operated in the presence of water, and the water content is maintained in the range from bone dry to about 100 ppm. |
