An adhesive tape consisting of a carrier having a top face, a bottom face, and a width BT based on the transverse direction, an adhesive layer applied on the bottom face of the carrier, and a liner applied on the open side of the adhesive layer, wherein a portion of the adhesive layer is exposed after the liner has been applied to the open side of the adhesive layer, wherein the liner has a transverse-direction-based width BA, which is greater than or equal to the width BT, and an offset relative to the carrier in transverse direction, with a width BVS, wherein the ratio of the width BT to the width BA lies between 1.0:1.0 and 1.0:1.5 and the width BVS of the offset lies between 0.4*width BT and 0.6*width BT.
