The present invention relates to a method for controlling a motor in a motor-driven power steering device and a device therefor and, more specifically, to a method for controlling a motor in a motor-driven power steering device and a device therefor capable of accurately measuring and controlling an amount of changed current of a motor by compensating for the offset errors of a current sensor to measure the current of the motor. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for controlling a motor in a motor-driven power steering device comprises: a step of checking an amount of changed current of a motor in a motor-driven steering device (MDPS) for a vehicle; a step of determining whether a vehicle stops and the motor-driven power steering device operates when the amount is drastically changed according to checked results; a step of gradually converging the current of the motor in the motor-driven power steering device to a predetermined level for predetermined hours if the motor-driven power steering device does not operate while the vehicle stops according to the determined results; and a step of controlling the motor converged to the predetermined level. |
