The present invention relates to a method for detecting a speed bump and a system thereof. The invention comprises the steps of: setting a region of interest (ROI) according to an area where a speed bump is present from a panorama image combined with at least one image sequence; designating a first lane area which is estimated to be a color of the speed bump based on the region of interest; converting a color model of the region of interest and extracting from the converted region of interest an area which is estimated to be a color of the speed bump; and extracting a second lane area by comparing the first lane area and the presumed area and then detecting a position of the speed bump based on the second lane area.
