This variable valve device (122) of an internal combustion engine (100) comprises a variable valve mechanism (10) capable of varying an operating angle of an intake valve (110) while the maximum lift amount of the intake valve (110) remains constant; and while the open time of the intake valve (110) remains constant the closing time of the intake valve (110) is delayed in accordance with an increase in the load of the internal combustion engine (100) and the operating angle is increased. The present invention can provide operating characteristics of the intake valve (110) that correspond to the load of the internal combustion engine (100). |
