<p>[Problem] To provide a cutting tool that is provided with a covering layer having high interlayer adhesiveness, and excellent abrasion resistance and defect resistance. [Solution] This cutting tool is provided with a substrate and a covering layer that is disposed on the substrate, said covering layer being formed by laminating, from the substrate side, a layer containing TiAlN, a TiAlNO layer or TiNO layer, which has a larger average crystal diameter than the layer containing TiAlN, and an a-Al2O3 layer, which has a larger average crystal diameter than the TiAlNO layer or the TiNO layer. Preferably, the average crystal diameter of the layer containing TiAlN is 0.1 to 1 µm, and the average crystal diameter of the a-Al2O3 layer is 0.5 to 1.5 µm.</p> |
