A sliding clasp fastener has a clasp which can be locked at any one of a plurality of positions by a lock having removable key, the lock having a cam arrangement rotatably mounted and recessed into the clasp and including a cam disc 4 and a cam part 5 for moving a bolt 7, the cam part acting directly on the bolt which is so mounted displaceably in the central longitudinal axis of the clasp that the bolt end engages between the two rows of fastener members 11, 12 within the clasp at one limit of the travel of the bolt with respect to the clasp. The bolt is slidably mounted in the centre piece 1 so that in its locking position it reduces the converging passages in the clasp to a width such that the fastener members of the stringers are unable to pass therethrough. The centre piece of the clasp is V-shaped in cross-section and has a circular aperture 3 therein which accommodates the cam disc 4. The cam part 5 engages a recess 6 in the bolt 7 under the pressure of a spring washer 18 and has a groove 16 in its face which engages the bottom of the recess so that the cam disc is held in two positions 180 degrees apart until it is moved by the key. The two positions corresponding to the locking and unlocked position of the bolt. The cam disc is provided with a hole 13 to receive the key, the key bits entering into side recesses 14, 15 which are shaped to ensure that the lock can only be opened by a particular key.
