The cappel according to the parent Specification is modified by including between each block 5 and its associated wedges 6 a liner 7, the taper of the liner 7 externally being greater than its taper internally. The liner 7 is split longitudinally as at 16, Fig. 2, so that when released from the block 5 it can be sprung open to release the wedges 6. The wedges are partly severed through, as at 17, so that they can more readily conform to the shape of the rope. |
