A towing hook assembly comprises a tow bar 1 pivoted to the vessel at 34, having a hook 5 pivoted at 4, the arm 6 of the hook having a shoulder 7 for engagement with a hook retaining roller 8. Roller 8 is mounted on a pin 11 carried by levers 9, 10 pivoted to the bar at 12, and an extension of pin 11 co-operates with an elongated slot 16 in a lever 13 which is pivoted in plate 3 of the bar at 14. A slidable latch 17 is located on lever 13 by pins 21, 22 co-operating with elongated slots 23, 24, and engages a pin 19 in plate 3. The latch is actuated by a lever 25 pivoted about lever 13 at 26, carrying a pin 27 which engages in a slot 28 in the latch, and a peg 29 which engages a face 30 on lever 13 after the latch is released from pin 19, to move levers 13, 25, as a unit. To release the hook, lever 25 is pivoted by a wire 31, and latch 17 is released. Further movement of lever 25 engages pin 29 with face 30, and pivots lever 13, and 9, 10, to disengage rollers 8 from arm 6 of the hook, which then pivots about point 4. The tow bar may be cushioned by a spring 37, and a guide ring 41 may be provided around which rollers 40 carried by the bar, move to and fro. Specification 797,537 is referred to.</p> |
