PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of scouring a cotton fiber.SOLUTION: A method of scouring a cotton fiber comprises: immersing the cotton fiber into water in the absence of a scouring agent; heating the water containing the cotton fiber to 30-120°C to form treated water of a pH of 8-8.9 adjusted by elution components; and scouring the cotton fiber with the treated water. Therefore, the method can scour the cotton fiber with good production efficiency without the need for a step such as neutralization. The obtained cotton fiber has excellent mechanical strength and water absorbability, a low dropping-off ratio of cotton filaments from the cotton fibers, and excellent quality with a little amount of creases formed on the surface. |
