<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unique linear drive conductor that allows formation of an eddy current sensor with a small footprint and a self-nulling response that reduces noise.SOLUTION: A multi-layer eddy current sensor 100 comprises: a first sense coil 106 for detecting an eddy current, where the first sense coil has a first axis 105 and a first width 109; and a drive conductor 104 for inducing the eddy current, the drive conductor disposed at a distance from the first sense coil 106 by an insulator layer, where the drive conductor 104 comprises a substantially straight conducting portion that traverses the entire width of the sense coil 106.</p> |
