<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission mechanism with a pair of selectively engageable clutch systems.SOLUTION: A clutch drive member is attached to an input side of each of a pair of clutch systems 60, 62 of a transmission mechanism 10, and driven for rotation by an engine input member. The upstream gear ratio is determined by the gear ratio between the engine input member and one of the clutch drive members. Output sides of each of the clutch systems drive an associated one of a pair of non-coaxial lay shafts 20, 22. Pinions are mounted on and selectively driven by the lay shafts. A countershaft 50 is arranged at a distance from both of the lay shafts, and has a plurality of gears driven for rotation by the pinions of the lay shafts. The downstream gear ratio is determined by the gear ratio between the selected pinion and the intermeshed gear.</p> |
