<p>The invention relates to a gear unit comprising at least one first shaft and at least one second shaft parallel to this, with gear wheels arranged on said shafts, wherein respective first gear wheels of a first shaft and second gear wheels of a second gear shaft are arranged as a gear wheel pair, wherein the gear wheels of a gear wheel pair engage, and wherein one gear wheel of a gear wheel pair is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to the shaft on which it is mounted and the other gear wheel of a gear wheel pair is accommodated rotatably on the shaft on which it is mounted. An axially displaceable selector sleeve is provided for connecting the gear wheel accommodated rotatably on the shaft to the shaft in a rotationally fixed manner and an axially displaceable selector fork is provided to actuate the selector sleeve.
