<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently recover a phosphite ion in an aged liquid using simple equipment. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for regenerating an electroless nickel plating liquid, an aged liquid including a phosphite ion obtained as a byproduct in an electroless plating process using as an undiluted solution an electroless nickel plating liquid including as a main component an aqueous hypophosphorous acid solution containing a nickel ion (Ni2+) is supplied into every other compartment which is separated by an anion exchange membrane and obtained by partitioning an electrodialysis cell using only anion exchange membranes (the compartment into which the aged liquid is supplied is hereafter referred to as a "supply chamber"), and also an alternating current is applied to the electrodialysis cell, so that the phosphite ion permeates the anion exchange membrane and is transferred into a concentration chamber into which the aged liquid is not supplied.
