<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device provided with an external heating member which improves fixability in the end parts of the maximum size sheet (the maximum sheet width) even though a fixing device member is shortened as much as possible and to provide an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An external heating member includes: a first heating body having high heat generation distribution in its central part; a second heating body having high heat generation distribution in both end parts; and a temperature detecting element for controlling the temperature of the external heating member in its central part. In accordance with the temperature of the end parts of a fixing member or the width of a sheet, the heat generation ratio of the first heat generation body to the second heat generation body is made smaller so that the temperature of the end parts of the external heating member is raised, thereby raising the temperature of the end parts of a fixing roller and improving the fixability in the end parts of the maximum size sheet (the maximum sheet width). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
