Provided are a glow plug control device and a glow plug control method capable of preventing attachment of deposit in a housing of a glow plug having a pressure sensing function to detect cylindrical internal pressure of an internal combustion engine. A glow plug (10) comprises: a housing (11) equipped with a shaft hole (11H); a heater member (14) a front end part (14S) of which is protruded from a front end (13S) of the housing and arranged within the shaft hole (11H) having a gap (CV) in a shape of a ring between the housing to generate heat by direct contact method; and a sealing member (26) capable of moving the heater member (14) in the axial direction (AX) relatively, connected to the housing elastically so that combusted gas may block the entrance of the gap (CV) between the housing and the heater member toward rear end. Glow plug control devices (1, 5) comprises: an energizing measure (S3) at the startup; and an energizing measure (S5) at deposit deposition to energize the heater member (14) so that the sealing member (26) may be heated to 200°C or higher in an operating condition wherein deposit is deposited in the shaft hole (11H) of the housing (11) except before and after starting up. |
