[Also in Division B6] A cage 8 carrying a series of panels or trays 10 is movable vertically to any one of a series of positions in which one of the panels or trays 10 is withdrawn from the cage 8 in two consecutive movements (Fig. 6, not shown), into a bay 6 where it is displayed. The cage is moved by a motor 13 and gears, controlled by buttons 16 according to a catalogue displayed on the cabinet (Fig. 4, not shown) and the selected panel or tray is withdrawn by endless belt or chain 18 having driving wedges engaging the panel or tray. Motor 20 driving chain 18 is reversible to replace the panel or tray and limit switches 22 are engaged by stops on chain 18 to limit movement in either direction. To display panel or tray in an inclined position, trays 10 may have rear pegs (23) (Fig. 3, not shown) which engage an inclined groove (24) or alternatively panels may be stacked inclined in cage 8 (Fig. 5, not shown). A panel or tray 10 is withdrawn in two stages (Fig. 6, not shown), a work-table (26) in front of bay 6, covering part of the tray in its second stage of withdrawal (II). Bay 6 comprises an aperture which may be open for easy withdrawal of panels or objects stored in trays or may be closed by a fixed or openable opaque, translucent or transparent shutter of, e.g. protective glass. Controls may be incorporated for successive automatic display of panels and for display for predetermined periods. The device is applicable to retail sale of small goods, for safe public display of valuable articles, and for filing of drawings, cards, photographs &c. |
