PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with a valve holder to achieve a small-sized pump so that a valve guide is accommodated in a small space between a valve seat and a peripheral surface of a pressure chamber.SOLUTION: A valve guide is provided inside a valve seat 214S for guiding valve stroke. Specifically, the valve includes an annular abutment surface abutting on the valve seat 214S formed in a valve housing to cut off a fuel suction passage; and a bottomed cylindrical portion provided on an inner circumference of the annular abutment surface. The bottomed cylindrical portion is inserted into a fuel introduction hole provided in the valve housing inside the valve seat 214S, and a member having a cylindrical surface portion opposed to the inner circumference of the bottomed cylindrical portion and supporting a reciprocating motion of the valve is fixed to the valve housing. Since a dimension by which the valve guide protrudes from a surface of the valve seat 214S to a pressure chamber can be reduced, a suction valve mechanism unit can be made small in size and a pump can be eventually made small in size.
