PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of using a drug for treating a mammal having an otic infection.SOLUTION: The present invention provides the treatment of acute and chronic bacterial, viral and fungal infections of the internal, middle and external ear by using a composition comprising: a. povidone iodine (PVP-I) at a concentration of 0.01-5.0%; and b. a steroid at a concentration of 0.01-2.0%. The steroid is selected from the group consisting of a fluoromethalone, a medrysone, a prednisolone, a difluprednate, and a hydrocortisone. The treatment comprises contacting an ear of a mammal with the composition. |
