摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device 1 of small size and multiple functions which can be flip-chip mounted on a flat surface such as a circuit board. <P>SOLUTION: The optical device 1 includes a housing member 2 that contains a recess 3, an optical element 4 whose first active region 5 faces a bottom surface 6 side of the recess 3, and a functional element board 15 where a functional element 14 is installed on the bottom surface 6 side of the recess 3, with the optical element 4 and the functional element board 15 being housed in the housing member 2 not to protrude from an upper end surface 19 of the recess 3. In the housing member 2, a bottom part of the recess 3 that faces the first active region 5 is a transparent first transparent region 7, and a step 11 is formed on an inside surface 8 of the recess 3, with the functional element board 15 joined to the step 11. A step electrode 12 is formed on the step surface of the step 11, which is electrically connected to a third electrode E3 formed on the bottom surface 6 and a fourth electrode E4 formed on the upper end face 19 by way of a side surface electrode 9 formed on the inside surface 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
