<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear shaping machine that reduces machining time and improves machining accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The gear shaping machine 1 performs gear cutting on a workpiece W by rotating a cutter 13 and the workpiece W in an engaged state. The machine includes: a spindle 12 to which the cutter 13 is detachably attached; a cutter head 10 supporting the spindle 12 so as to be moved in a vertical direction and rotated around a shaft center thereof, and a cutter 13 swingably so as to approach and separate from the workpiece W and movably in a cutting direction to the workpiece W; and a servo motor 14 for moving the spindle 12 in the vertical direction. A cutting speed of the cutter 13 is set for each cutting position.
