<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end position detection device capable of reducing the size in a sheet width direction and also eliminating complicated control. <P>SOLUTION: The end position detection device comprises: a light emission array 60 having a plurality of LEDs 103 arranged in different positions in a sheet width direction M; a light receiving array 70 which has a plurality of light receiving bodies 106 arranged in different positions in the sheet width direction M, in which at least one of the light receiving bodies 106 is arranged between the lateral end of the sheet width direction M of the smallest size and the lateral end of the sheet width direction M of the maximum size that allow conveyance by a device body 10A, and which is movable independently of the light emitting array 60 in the sheet width direction M including the position facing the light emitting array 60; and a controller 50 configured to derive the position of the lateral end of a sheet S based on an amount of movement of the light receiving body 106 when the light receiving body 106 is moved in the sheet width direction M and crosses the lateral ends of the sheet S and the sheet width direction M.
