<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that prevents deterioration of image quality due to delayed start-up of a laser source when the laser source is driven with high switching frequency. <P>SOLUTION: When a light-emitting part 107 is turned on in response to a video signal Vo, a switching element 106 is turned on for operation, and a current control circuit 103 supplies current generated in accordance with voltage V1 output from a voltage source 101 as drive current Id to the light-emitting part 107.
