Provided in embodiments of the present invention are a device and method for data transmission. The method comprises: a base station receives downlink data packets transmitted by a core network device; the base station transmits a first downlink data packet of the downlink data packets to a user equipment (UE) and transmits a second downlink data packet of the downlink data packets to a wireless fidelity access point (Wi-Fi AP) via an Xw interface to allow the Wi-Fi AP to transmit the second downlink data packet to the UE, where the base station manages wireless resources for Wi-Fi via the Xw interface. Provided in the embodiments of the present invention, the device and method for data transmission are capable of solving the problem in the prior art of low wireless resource utilization rate during data transmission.
