PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardening apparatus which allows increasing the flow rate of a hardening oil flowing in a basket housing a work.SOLUTION: A hardening apparatus has an oil tank 1 for storing a hardening oil and carries out quick chilling of a work heated to a hardening temperature by immersing a basket 10 housing the work in a hardening oil. The hardening apparatus includes a duct 3 having an inlet opening 30 which takes in the hardening oil immediately under the basket 10 mounted on a lifting basket 20 and a screw 4 which generates a downward flow causing the hardening oil to be taken in from the inlet opening 30 and flow from the upper to the lower part of the basket 10. The duct 3 has an extended cylindrical part 35 which extends upward close to the lower end surface of the basket 10 and forms the inlet opening 30 with its upper end part and a blockage member 36 which extends outward from the outer periphery of the extended cylindrical part 35 and prevents the hardening oil flowing downward through the side of the lifting basket 20 and reaching under the lifting basket 20 from flowing into the inlet opening 30. |
