<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that reduces a force to be applied to a continuous medium when the continuous medium is supplied to a holding means, thereby preventing the continuous medium from being deformed by the force, and also to provide a printing method. <P>SOLUTION: The printer includes a supply means for successively supplying a continuous medium; a holding means for sucking and holding a target area of a continuous medium supplied by a supply means on the back of the continuous medium opposite the printing target face; a discharging means for discharging liquid to the target surface of the target area held by the holding means; a sub-scanning means for causing the holding means to scan in a predetermined direction substantially parallel to the lengthwise direction of the continuous medium in a portion sucked and held by the continuous medium holding means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
