<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition and a display element having negative dielectric anisotropy (Δε) of a large absolute value and being excellent in chemical stability, and to provide a compound having negativeΔεof a large absolute value and being excellent in chemical stability. <P>SOLUTION: A fluorinated oxabicyclo nonane derivative represented by general formula (I), a liquid crystal composition including the derivative, and a display element using the liquid crystal composition are provided.
