Using a first image (21) and a second image (22) representing the subject with different phases, based on a first insertion position (QA1) and a first tip position (PA1) in the first image (21), and deformation information used to deform the first image (21) so as to be in alignment with the second image (22), a second insertion position (QA2) on a second image (22) corresponding to the first insertion position (QA1) is specified, a second tip position (PA2) is specified in such a manner that the direction corresponding to the first insertion direction (VA1) moving from the first insertion position (QA1) to the first tip position (PA1) matches the second insertion direction (VA2) moving from the second insertion position (QA2) to the second tip position (PA2), and by generating a second observation image (32) which renders visible the interior of the subject of a phase corresponding to the second image (21) with the second tip position (PA2) as a viewpoint, observation images having different phases are generated by virtual rigid surgical instruments. |
