<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding device capable of displaying complete stopping of rotation of a spindle. <P>SOLUTION: The grinding device includes a chucking table, a grinding means, a grinding feed means and a control means 92. The grinding means includes a spindle 22, a radial air bearing 80, a thrust air bearing 82, a housing 20, a wheel mount 24 connected to one end of the spindle 22, a grinding wheel 25 attachably and detachably attached to the wheel mount 24, a motor 23 connected to the other end of the spindle 22 and rotating the spindle 22, and an acceleration sensor 90 disposed in either of the wheel mount 24 and the spindle 22. The control means 92 includes a receiving part 94 receiving an acceleration value output from the acceleration sensor 90 and a conversion part 96 converting the acceleration value received by the receiving part 94 into a rotational speed.
