A method for producing an inorganic fiber mat, wherein an aqueous binder and a reactive silicone oil are caused to adhere to inorganic fibers and cured. The aqueous binder contains: a (co)polymer (A) that has at least two groups selected from among a carboxyl group and acid anhydride groups; a crosslinking agent (B) that contains a compound (B1) having at least two functional groups selected from among a hydroxyl group, amino groups and imino groups; and water.
