[Also in Division A6] In a mould for a doll's head there is provided for each eye an insert 50, Figs. 1, 2 and 4, which defines an eye socket. The insert 50 has two opposed retractable pins 62, 64 which during moulding are held by a cam member 80 against the bias of springs 74, 76 to define holes which receive trunnions of the subsequently inserted pivoted eye assembly. Two spring loaded cutter blades 88a, 90a are located in the insert 50 and during moulding, are embedded in the wall part B of the moulding material, e.g. polyethylene. On rotation of a shaft 56 which extends into the insert 50 the cutter blades trim the wall B from the eye socket and the cam 80 is moved to allow retraction of the pins 62, 64 so that the insert 50 may be removed.</p> |
