A method, apparatus and computer program wherein the method comprises: providing a first input signal to a sensor 50; measuring a first output signal 52 provided from the sensor in response to the first input signal and calculating capacitance 54 of the sensor from the first measured output signal; providing a second input signal to the sensor 56; measuring the output signal 58 provided from the sensor in response to the second input signal and calculating resistance 60 of the sensor from the second measured output signal; wherein the first and second input signals are provided at different times. The first and second input signals can be provided at a plurality of times. The first and second input signals can be provided alternately. The inputs can comprise of different pulse sequences. The first signal can cause the capacitor to be repeatedly charged and discharged. The sensor can be configured to provide a variable capacitance that varies in response to a first sensed parameter and a variable resistance that varies in response to a second sensed parameter. The first sensed parameter can comprise a conductive object in proximity to the sensor. The second sensed parameter can comprise an environment parameter e.g. temperature, light or humidity.
