The fuel cell system and the gas receiving device are arranged in series at the coolant spacer. A pressure regulator regulates the pressure in the gas receiving device. The fuel cell system comprises a cooling system with a coolant spacer that is connected to the gas receiving device. The fuel cell system and the gas receiving device are arranged in series at the coolant spacer. A pressure regulator regulates the pressure in the gas receiving device. A temperature regulator regulates the temperature in the gas receiving device. The sorbent includes a molecular sieve for adsorbing the boil off gas, where the sorbent is a hydride storage. An independent claim is included for a method for operating the operation gas system.
