An underwater hydrocarbon extraction facility 2 including a plurality of actuators 3, 4, 5 and method of use thereof, wherein each of the actuators 3, 4, 5 comprises an electric motor 6, 7, 8, to operate the actuator, communication means 6, 7, 8 to receive communication signals, a controller 12 connected to the communication mans and electric motor, controller being operable to activate the motor in response to a received signal. The actuators may be further controlled by wireless communication and contain electrical power storage means. It may further comprise a wired connection 13 or umbilical 14, or comprise a modem. |
