<p>An abrasive element used in a finishing apparatus, such as a vibratory mill for deburring articles or for forming grinding or polishing discs/wheels, which is formed such that consists essentially of glass some of which has been devitrified. The devitrified material may form between 1% and 100% of the finishing medium. The medium may have a longest dimension of between 5 and 80mm. The medium may be shaped by processing in a mould, or by cutting after heat treatment. The elements may be cones, spheres, cuboids, ellipsoids, prisms, tetrahedra, pyramids, discs or polyhedral. The processing may form voids in the glass, which may be at the surface following cutting providing sharp edges. Methods of forming and methods of use in finishing articles are disclosed. Also disclosed are building elements consisting essentially of glass some of which has been devitrified, and methods of forming building elements.</p> |
