摘要 <p>A surface-measuring measuring machine comprising a measurement component for establishing a measurement connection to a surface to be measured, that is connected to a base by a connecting element, and a rotary encoder, which detects rotation of the connecting element with respect to a holder, each of which has a code carrier and a sensor. A code projection dependent on the position of the carrier relative to the sensor is generated on the sensor, and a part thereof is captured. An angular position of the carrier is ascertained and the current measurement position of the measurement component relative to the base is determined. For each encoder, a position value for a further degree of freedom of the carrier is ascertained based on the code projection and used to determine the current measurement position. A relative position of the connecting element to the holder is determined from the position value in the form of a change in shape or size.</p>
