The plurality of available transmission channels includes at least one B or D channel. |

1. A code division multiple access (CDMA) subscriber unit comprising:
an antenna; and a circuit, coupled to the antenna, configured to establish a channel with a base station; the circuit being further configured to transmit a communication to the base station over the channel at a first data rate; the circuit being further configured to establish a second channel with the base station; the circuit being further configured to transmit a communication to the base station over the second channel at a second data rate, wherein the first data rate is different than the second data rate; the antenna being configured to receive power control information from the base station, wherein the power control information is time division multiplexed onto a physical channel using control signaling; the circuit being configured to adjust a power level associated with at least one of the first and second channels in accordance with the power control information. |
