A battery cell according to one embodiment of the present invention includes an electrode assembly which includes an electrode tab, an electrode lead which is connected to the electrode tab, a pouch sheet which includes a first sheet to cover the upper side of the electrode assembly and a second sheet to cover the lower side of the electrode assembly, and a support structure which is combined with the frame region of the pouch sheet and covers the side of the electrode assembly. According to the present invention, the size of the electrode assembly is increased by securing a space occupied by the electrode assembly which is received in the pouch sheet without increasing a size with regard to an existing battery cell. Thereby, energy density is improved. |
