<p>A narrow profile sound system comprises a drive unit disposed on a mounting surface. The mounting surface forms a barrier acoustically isolating the drive unit's forward radiation from its rearward radiation. The narrow profile sound system also includes a sound reflecting surface facing the drive unit and a narrow sound duct terminating in an elongate output slot. The sound duct is defined by the sound reflecting surface. The mounting surface and an interior sidewall disposed between the sound reflecting surface and the mounting surface follows a rear contoured edge of the drive unit opposite the sound duct, such that the sound duct provides a substantially straight path from the drive unit to the output slot. The forward radiation from the drive unit is turned at a substantially right angle and channeled through the sound duct directly towards the output slot.</p> |
