An axially-corrugated cylinder (not shown) is formed from a length of fine wire mesh and is then arranged in a vertical die press with its axis vertical, after which the die is operated to produce from the cylinder an annulus such as 43a, Figs. 3 and 4, having radial corrugations and axially-spaced, flattened, peripheries. The annuli are assembled in pairs with outer peripheries secured together by a strip 56 and inner peripheries reinforced separately by strips 49, 55 respectively, and with an apertured spacer ring 57 between them. Fig. 1 shows a complete filter. |
