In a process for the production of freely flowing agglomerates of thermoplastics powders having high powder densities from thermoplastics powders having low powder densities and which are not freely flowing, in a high speed mixer at temperatures above the softening point of the plastic, agglomeration is carried out under subatmospheric pressure between 0.01 to 0.9 atmospheres absolute. The agglomeration may be effected in the presence of water or aqueous dispersions or emulsions, e.g. of dibutyl fumarate-butadiene copolymers, polyvinyl chloride or styrene-butadiene copolymers. Examples describe the agglomeration of polyvinyl chloride in the presence of (1) polyvinyl chloride latex, (2) an organic tin stabilizer and glycerol monooleate and (3) a dibutyl fumaratebutadiene copolymer emulsion. |
