The invention comprises (1) acid addition salts of an aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid and 3 - (dimethylaminoethoxycarbonyl) - pyridine or 3 - (diethylaminoethoxycarbonyl) - pyridine; and (2) the preparation of stable and nonhygroscopic acid addition salts of 3-(dialkylaminoalkoxycarbonyl) - pyridines by treating a solution of an aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acid in an organic solvent with a stoichiometric quantity or a slight excess of a 3-(dialkylaminoalkoxycarbonyl) - pyridine, preferably dissolved in the same solvent. The salt is preferably precipitated from the reaction medium by the addition of a solvent in which it is not more than sparingly soluble, but in which the acid and the base employed are soluble. ....
