PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device, electronic apparatus, and driving method of a display device with which a deterioration in image quality is suppressed while an increase in the amount of calculation is suppressed, and power consumption is reduced.SOLUTION: A display device includes an image display panel, a planar light source, and a control unit that controls pixels on the basis of an input signal of an image, calculates an index of the amount of consumption reduction for each pixel on the basis of color information on the input signal of an image, and controls the brightness of the planar light source on the basis of the calculated indices, where the control unit has: a mass detection part that determines if the indices continue, if determined that the indices continue, determines that continuous areas as a mass, and determines the continuous indices as an index of the mass; a counting part that determines the indices as an index of the entire area on the basis of the indices of the entire area of a target area; and an index determination unit that compares the index of the mass with the index of the entire area and calculates the index with the smaller amount of consumption reduction as an index of the target area. |
