PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device capable of controlling torque variation with improved efficiency in an operation state, such as idling in particular, where engine vibration is likely to cause a problem.SOLUTION: An engine control device preliminarily sets a correlation coefficient R(&thetas;) representing a correlation between variation Qin a heat generation amount in combustion cycles of an engine 1 and torque variation TF as a function of a predetermined crank angle position (for example, a gravity center of combustion &thetas;) where a heat release rate dQ/d&thetas; is high based on the specifications of an engine. Then, the engine control device: obtains a current value of the predetermined crank angle position while the engine 1 is operated (Step ST5); and performs corrective control of an ignition timing with a value of the correlation coefficient calculated by using the current value as an index (Steps ST6 to ST11). |
