PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling work roll cooling apparatus and a rolling work roll cooling method capable of suppressing a temperature of a rolling work roll so as to reduce edge high spots at which a thickness increases in side end portions of a hot rolled steel sheet.SOLUTION: A first slit nozzle 14a for injecting cooling water 22 in a curtain wall shape on an inlet side of each furnace-cover rolling work roll 12 is provided, and the cooling water is sprayed toward the inlet side of the rolling work roll 12 from a contact point between a corresponding backup roll 11 and the rolling work roll 12 in a range from 0 to 15°. Furthermore, a first scraper 13a is attached near a contact point between a hot rolled steel sheet 10 on the inlet side of each rolling work roll 12 and the rolling work roll 12, and a flow of the first slit nozzle 14a is regulated in response to a circumferential speed V (m/sec) of the rolling work roll 12 so that a quantity of the cooling water Q (L/min.m) per unit width of the hot rolled steel sheet 10 injected from the first slit nozzle 14a satisfies Q≥3.5×V+43×V. |
