PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent or inhibit discharge of harmful substances, in particular hydrocarbon, discharged from cold start to warming-up a catalyst.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control system includes: a purification device installed on an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine and having a hydrocarbon adsorbing member that can temporarily hold hydrocarbon; a heater that is attached to the purification device and of which temperature can be controlled; and a control device for setting a set temperature of the heater to a first predetermined temperature that enables the hydrocarbon adsorbing member to adsorb hydrocarbon at cold start of the internal combustion engine and for setting the set temperature of the heater to a second predetermined temperature that is higher than the first predetermined temperature and enables the hydrocarbon adsorbing member to release the hydrocarbon after starting of fuel cut for temporarily stopping subsequent fuel supply to a cylinder. |
